The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Diponegoro organized a series of internationalization activities through the World Class University 2025 Visiting Lecturer program with the theme ‘Weaving a Global Academic Network through High-Quality International Scientific Writing,’ inviting an academic from Virthulab, University of Florence, Italy, Marina Baroni, Ph.D., on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. In this event, Marina Baroni, Ph.D., who is familiarly known as Marina, delivered a presentation titled “Understanding Structure and Purpose in Scientific Writing for Beginner Researchers” to first-semester students of the Faculty of Psychology.
In her presentation, Marina shared several golden rules for writing scientific articles, including fostering the habit of reading scientific articles, increasing objectivity when reviewing one’s own writing, improving English proficiency, becoming accustomed to rejection, the importance of having a clear research flow, and being an honest researcher. Marina also explained the different types of scientific articles, the structure of scientific articles, and how to compose them. Further, Marina described how to choose the right journal outlet for a written article along with practical tips. At the end of the session, Marina and the participants analyzed a scientific article together.
The participants were very enthusiastic about Marina’s presentation and did not hesitate to ask questions, including Muhammad Asfa, who asked for tips on summarizing a scientific article, and Kheysa Salsabila, who inquired about what to do after a submitted article is rejected by a journal.
This activity will be continued with research collaborations and the submission of an international research grant for 2026 together with the event PIC, Dr. phil Dian Veronika Sakti Kaloeti, S.Psi., M.Psi., in order to enhance the reputation and global competitiveness of Universitas Diponegoro.
