The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Diponegoro organized a series of internationalization activities through the International Teaching Fellowship Program scheme, themed “Global Justice Through Psychological Insight: Advancing SDG 16 Via International Teaching Fellowship 2025 in Criminal Psychology.” The program invited Dr. Mohd Norbayusri Baharudin from the Department of Social Administration and Justice, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya, Malaysia, on October 21-25, 2025.
The series of activities began on October 21, 2025. In the first session, the speaker, popularly known as Dr. Baiyu, led a discussion on the correctional system. The second session continued with an explanation of how prison rehabilitation can be achieved through education, skills training, and restorative justice. In his interactive presentations, Dr. Baiyu consistently included videos relevant to the discussed topics, providing students with a clearer understanding.
In the third session, the speaker delivered material on psychosocial interventions in juvenile justice and various rehabilitation methods for adolescents. The fourth session covered cross-cultural correctional psychology and adapting psychological interventions in multicultural environments. The fifth session discussed therapy and community-based care models to maintain mental health within correctional institutions. The series also included discussions and the finalization of a criminal psychology course module, as well as collaborative research with the event’s PIC, Dr. phil Dian Veronika Sakti Kaloeti, S.Psi., M.Psi.
In addition to academic discussions, the speaker also visited Kedungpane Class I Correctional Institution and Bulu Women’s Class IIA Correctional Institution, where, together with students, Dr. Baiyu discussed the correctional system and rehabilitation programs with correctional staff.
Overall, this program was attended by undergraduate and graduate psychology students, undergraduate nursing students, and residents from the Forensic Medicine and Medicolegal Studies Program. It is expected that this activity will enhance Universitas Diponegoro’s global competitiveness by expanding academic collaboration and strengthening its international reputation.
