History

1980 — Initial Planning

Plans to establish the Faculty of Psychology at Diponegoro University began in 1980. Initial efforts were made by recruiting several Psychology graduates as lecturers to various faculties within Undip, namely the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the Faculty of Letters, and the Faculty of Public Health. These lecturers with psychology backgrounds were also involved in the Diponegoro University Student Consultative Body (BKM Undip).

1991 — Preparatory Permit

Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Moeljono S. Trastotenojo, obtained permission from the Minister of Education and Culture, Prof. Dr. Fuad Hasan, to prepare for the establishment of the Faculty of Psychology.

1995 — Establishment of the Study Program

Preparatory efforts to establish the Faculty of Psychology bore fruit with the issuance of Decree No. 362/Dikti/Kep/1995 from the Director General of Higher Education on August 18, 1995. This decree served as the basis for establishing the Undergraduate Psychology Study Program, which at that time was under the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University (Undip).

1996 — First Student Admission

In the 1996/1997 academic year, the Psychology Study Program at Diponegoro University (Undip) began accepting new students. Teaching and learning activities took place in one of the buildings of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (now the Faculty of Science and Mathematics/FSM).

2000 — New Building in Tembalang

On August 16, 2000, the Psychology Study Program officially moved into a new building on the Tembalang Campus. Since then, all academic activities have been centered in this building.

2007 — Becoming a Faculty

On April 24, 2007, the Psychology Study Program officially transformed into the Faculty of Psychology at Diponegoro University. This status change was established through Undip Rector’s Decree Number 28/SK/J07/2007 concerning the Establishment of the Faculty of Psychology.

First Professor:
Drs. Darmanto Jatman, S.U. He also pioneered the faculty’s vision for the development of family-based psychology, particularly Indonesian families.

2009 — Diponegoro University’s 11th Faculty

The Faculty of Psychology’s status was further strengthened through Decree of the Minister of National Education Number 65 of 2009 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of Diponegoro University. Effective October 2, 2009, the Faculty of Psychology officially became the 11th faculty within Diponegoro University.

2010 — New Dean’s Building

The Diponegoro University Faculty of Psychology has a new dean’s building adjacent to the old building. Over time, the faculty has continued to grow, and prospective student interest in the Faculty of Psychology has increased each year.

2013 — Determination of the Anniversary

Through a decision of the Faculty of Psychology Senate on December 4, 2013, August 18 was designated as the anniversary of the Faculty of Psychology at Diponegoro University.

2018 — New Building and A Accreditation

Construction of the new building for the Faculty of Psychology at Diponegoro University began, while the old building was converted into the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Public Health. To date, the Faculty of Psychology occupies the new building overlooking the sea.

In the same year, the Faculty of Psychology at Diponegoro University received A Accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) based on Decree No. 1109/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/IV/2018, valid from April 24, 2018, to April 24, 2023.
