NurturEdify 2025: UNDIP Psychology Students Empower Parents with Positive Parenting

Psychology students at Diponegoro University once again demonstrated their commitment to community service through the NurturEdify 2025 program, a parenting workshop aimed at parents. The event was held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Purwosari Village, North Semarang District, Semarang City, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. The program was designed to empower parents to optimally support their children’s growth and development, emotionally, socially, and mentally.

Through the NurturEdify 2025 Program, UNDIP Psychology students provide education in the form of insights, skills, and practical strategies for positive parenting that can be directly applied in daily life. This workshop also provides a space for parents to share experiences, thereby creating a positive social support network. This program is expected to strengthen family relationships and improve the quality of early childhood parenting.

“Sekolah Binaan” Program 2025, UNDIP Psychology Students' Community Service for Bandarharjo Elementary School Students

Psychology students at Diponegoro University present the “Sekolah Binaan” or School Mentoring Program 2025 as a tangible form of community service in supporting the learning process and development of elementary school children in Bandarharjo Village, North Semarang District, Semarang City. Under the theme “Learning from the Heart, Becoming Meaningful from an Early Age,” this program is designed with a holistic, enjoyable, and development-oriented learning approach.

The activities began with training for volunteers, including Psychological First Aid (PFA) Training on June 24, 2025, and Trainer of Trainers (ToT) on June 25, 2025. Subsequently, the activity continued with a live-in project that took place from June 28 to July 6, 2025, where students were directly involved in offline teaching activities for elementary school students in Bandarharjo Village. The learning process was carried out through formal and non-formal approaches to create an interactive, safe, and meaningful learning atmosphere for students.

Through active involvement in the “Sekolah Binaan” or School Mentoring Program, UNDIP Psychology Faculty students not only serve as teachers but also as mentors who build emotional connections with the children. This program is expected to have a positive and sustainable impact on the educational ecosystem, particularly in Bandarharjo Village, Semarang.

UNDIP Psychology Students Support the Strengthening of the “SIBENING” Program in Overcoming Stunting Problems in Tlogosari Wetan Village

Psychology students from the University of Diponegoro are actively involved in strengthening the “SIBENING” Program (Everyone Moves Together to Overcome Stunting) in Tlogosari Wetan Village, Pedurungan District, Semarang City. This program is implemented through a series of Community Service Learning (CSL) activities as a preventive measure against stunting, using an educational and community support approach.

The strengthening of the SIBENING Program is carried out in an integrated manner with various of Community Service Learning (CSL) activities, including parenting and nutrition education, raising awareness of healthy lifestyles, and mentoring target groups such as adolescents, pregnant women, postpartum mothers, fathers, and prospective brides and grooms. These activities are carried out in collaboration with village officials and local health workers as part of academic and community synergy.

The activities were carried out in the form of interactive counseling using a participatory approach. In addition to presenting material, the activities also included group discussions, interactive quizzes, and question and answer sessions to encourage active participant involvement. Through the involvement of UNDIP Psychology students, the “SIBENING” Program is expected to further strengthen community awareness of the importance of quality parenting and balanced nutrition from an early age.

Supporting Early Stunting Prevention, UNDIP Psychology Students Educate Pregnant Women and Nursing Mothers

In order to support promotional and preventive efforts to prevent stunting, students from the Faculty of Psychology at Diponegoro University conducted a parenting and nutrition education program for pregnant women and nursing mothers in Tlogosari Wetan Village, Semarang City, on July 7, 2025. This activity is part of the Community Service Program (KKN) organized by the UNDIP Community Service Program Development Center (P2KKN) under the guidance of KKN-T Field Supervisor Costrie Ganes Widayanti, S.Psi., M.Si.Med., Ph.D. The program was implemented by Alym Ashyla Eka Putri Mappaita, a student from the Faculty of Psychology at UNDIP, in collaboration with Midwife Novi, Chairperson of the “SIBENING” (Everyone Moves Together to Overcome Stunting) Program.

The primary target audience for this activity was pregnant women and postpartum mothers, with a focus on educating them about the importance of proper parenting and optimal nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This activity aims to equip parents with foundational knowledge to prevent stunting in children.

Through this educational activity, students strive to raise public awareness about the importance of parents’ physical and mental readiness in supporting children’s growth and development. This program also serves as a long-term investment in building a generation that is healthy physically, mentally, and socially.

“SIAP BINA”: UNDIP Psychology Students Educate Prospective Brides and Grooms to Prevent Stunting Early On

As part of efforts to support stunting prevention from the premarital stage, students from the Faculty of Psychology at Diponegoro University are implementing a community service program titled “SIAP BINA (Ready to Be Wise Parents and Healthy Children)” in Tlogosari Wetan Village, Semarang City. This program is part of the Community Service Learning (CSL) activities focused on educating prospective brides and grooms on preparing to build a healthy family physically, mentally, and socially.

The program targets prospective brides and grooms as a strategic group in long-term stunting prevention efforts. The education provided covers proper parenting, the importance of balanced nutrition in the family, household financial management, and reproductive health. This education is reinforced with a legal basis that encourages prospective brides and grooms to be more concerned about their physical and mental readiness before entering marriage and taking on the role of parents.

Through the “SIAP BINA” program, UNDIP Psychology students strive to instill awareness that stunting prevention can be done early on through healthy and quality family preparation. This program is expected to contribute to creating a healthier and more prosperous future generation in Tlogosari Wetan Village.
