The Master’s Program in Psychology, Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Diponegoro successfully held an online Guest Lecture on 6 May 2026 as part of the Undip Global Classroom initiative within the Criminal Psychology course, supporting the university’s commitment toward becoming a World Class University (WCU).
Featuring Prof. Asanka Bulathwatta from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, the session explored the topic “Optimizing Emotional Creativity on Youth with Trauma.” Participants gained insights into emotional creativity, emotional intelligence, adaptive coping strategies, and the transformation of trauma into resilience, motivation, and leadership.
Through an interactive and reflective learning environment, Master of Psychology students were encouraged not only to understand the theoretical foundations of emotional creativity, but also to reflect on their own emotional experiences, coping processes, and ways of responding to adversity. The discussion highlighted the four fundamental pillars of emotional creativity: novel, effective, authentic, and prepared, emphasizing their relevance in promoting psychological well-being, adaptive emotional regulation, and the prevention of maladaptive, aggressive, and destructive coping responses among youth.
This session provided valuable international perspectives while strengthening students’ understanding of emotional development, trauma, and their broader implications within criminal psychology and mental health contexts.
