During her visit to the Department of Anthropology & Sociology, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya, from May 4-7, 2026, Dr. Phil. Dian Veronika Sakti Kaloeti, S.Psi., M.Psi., strengthened international academic collaboration through correctional studies. During the visit, Dr. Dian Veronika, familiarly known as Vio, served as a guest lecturer, presenting an in-depth research topic entitled “From Violence to Resilience: Narratives of Indonesian Incarcerated Women Survivors of Domestic Abuse,” which explored the experiences of domestic violence experienced by female inmates.
Furthermore, she served as a resource person in a guest lecture entitled “Psychosocial Intervention in Correctional Settings: Integrating Theory and Practice,” sharing various psychological interventions that can be implemented in correctional institutions. Dr. Vio also had the opportunity to visit the Prison Headquarters in Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia. During the visit, Dr. Vio had the opportunity to observe firsthand the empowerment program provided to inmates in Malaysia and sample products made by inmates. This opportunity was also used to establish initial coordination regarding potential joint research collaborations between the two faculties, opening up opportunities for international-level research collaborations that would strengthen UNDIP’s position on the global academic scene.
